The CLK-Class is the Mercedes-Benz line of luxury coupes and cabriolets, including sporty AMG versions. The CLK line was introduced in 1997 as a 1998 model with the CLK320 which featured the first production V6 engine from Mercedes-Benz. Sharing many chassis components with the C-Class and echoing styling cues from the E-Class, the CLK was designed to compete in the luxury coupe market and was joined by the CLK320 Cabriolet and the V8-powered CLK430 Coupe for 1999. The second-generation CLK coupe was introduced for the 2003 model year followed by the cabriolet for 2004.
