Introduced in 1996, the TL was the first Acura to adopt the alphanumeric model designation system that spreaded to the entire Acura line. The 2.5TL was first on the market, later joined by the V6-powered 3.2TL. In 1999 the TL was completely redesigned, and in 2002 the high-performance Type S was added to the lineup. The third-generation TL was introduced in 2004 with all-new styling and a slew of high-tech features. For 2007 the TL is updated with new exterior and interior styling and marks the return of the Type-S after a 3-year hiatus.
